No Fear: A Journey of Growth with Horses

At Clear Sky Retreat Center, I stepped into horse training with both curiosity and fear. I admitted that I didn’t understand horses and was afraid of them, and the group simply held space for my honesty.

With guidance from Catherine Sensei, I began to see that fear doesn’t have to shape my life. Her teachings helped me recognize that with intention, we can train our minds and reduce suffering.

A teaching from Qapel — “You must be willing to die, no matter what” — challenged me to face fear instead of letting it limit me.

As I trained with the horses, something shifted. Acknowledging my fear loosened its grip, and I learned to communicate with the horses in a clearer, more grounded way. This change naturally spread into other areas of my life.

Working with the horses became a mirror for my inner state, showing me where I held tension or calm. Through that reflection, I grew more aware, resilient, and open.

Being witnessed in moments of vulnerability wasn’t always easy, yet it created connection, trust, and shared growth.

This “No Fear” journey continues to help me mature, find courage, and support others. The lessons with the horses remain a powerful source of insight, confidence, and compassion.
