No Fear: Embracing the Journey of Horse & Mind Training

At Clear Sky Retreat Center, the open grasslands and quiet forest set the stage for a unique kind of spiritual training — one where horses teach us how to train our own minds. Through natural horsemanship and equine-assisted learning, we learn to face fear, practice presence, and discover how our inner state shapes every connection we make, human and equine alike.

When I first joined a session with Yvonne, the Natural Horsemanship trainer, I admitted that I had never really understood horses — and that I was afraid of them. My vulnerability was simply witnessed, not fixed or dismissed. That quiet acceptance revealed the first lesson: fear loses its power when it’s acknowledged with awareness.

Under the guidance of Catherine Sensei and Qapel, I began to see how true training starts within. Catherine’s compassionate example reframed fear as a teacher, while Qapel’s words — “be willing to die, no matter what” — became a call to live with radical presence.

Working closely with the horses changed me. They respond not to words but to energy, timing, and clarity. As I learned their language — calm posture, honest intention, steady breath — I found my own anxiety dissolving. That transformation touched every part of my life, bringing more balance and connection.

This isn’t just horse training; it’s a form of mindfulness retreat — an embodied practice in resilience and compassion. Each moment with these beings mirrors our own mind. As fear softens, curiosity grows; as we become steady, life reflects that steadiness back.

If you’re drawn to a mindful horse training experience that blends natural horsemanship, equine-assisted learning, and conscious community, the Clear Sky Center offers a space to grow with courage and awareness. Step into presence, meet fear with openness, and rediscover your natural confidence.
